Relying on the youthful passion and hard work of entrepreneurs, FAW seedlings began to take root in the land of northern China and thrive. Since entering the 21st century, with China's accession to the WTO, the automobile industry has rapidly integrated into economic globalization. At the same time, FAW's external development, "going out" to export its own brand has also begun to accelerate the pace, with Russia and Mexico have signed a production "liberation" brand commercial vehicles, economical cars joint venture cooperation agreement. On November 22, 2007, FAW laid the foundation for the production of an economical car base in Mexico. This is the first time that China's auto companies have set up factories on an overseas scale. On August 30, 2009, FAW teamed up with General Motors of the United States to establish "FAW-GM Light Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd.". A series of moves shows that FAW's participation in international competition is deepening.

“The Chinese auto industry cannot always be a foreign processing plant. Based on the joint venture and cooperation with foreign multinational companies, FAW has increased the development of self-owned brand cars. In the manufacture of trucks, FAW Group adhered to the development of the "liberation" advantage brand, and adapted to the development trend of the world, to the direction of high-end heavy trucks.
