Northeastern University successfully developed a 360-degree three-dimensional panoramic scanner

【China Instrument Network Instrument Development】 Recently, Professor Jia Tong from Northeastern University led a scientific research team to develop a high-speed, high-precision three-dimensional panoramic real-time scanner. With innovative changes to traditional scanners, it takes only 5 seconds to complete a 360-degree panoramic scan of the object.

A three-dimensional panoramic scanner is an extremely effective and fast tool for acquiring three-dimensional data of an object. Since China Haida discovered the first dimensional laser scanner in 2013, now China's scanners are continuously innovating and have made great progress.
More convenient
Traditional scanners generally complete the scan before they can reconstruct the model. Generally, they have a flash and two industrial cameras. When they work, the laser line shines on the object. Two cameras capture the moment's three-dimensional scan data. Then the information will be Convert to 3D images with third-party software. This scanner can be rebuilt on one side of the scan. It only takes 5 seconds to complete the 360-degree panoramic scanning of objects, which greatly improves the detection rate of industrial parts.
More accurate
The three-dimensional panoramic scanner actively controls the camera and the laser to effectively filter the artificial light source in the environment, weakens the interference of the noise on the depth measurement, and accurately completes the depth measurement work.
After verification, the three-dimensional panoramic real-time scanner can pass the detection accuracy rate as high as 97%. Compared with manual recognition, the qualified accuracy rate is improved by 7%, and the efficiency is increased by 50%. Compared with other types of detection instruments, the accuracy rate of conformity is improved. 2%-3%, efficiency increased by 5%-10%.
Can work under any lighting conditions
The newly developed three-dimensional panoramic scanner can perform scanning with high accuracy and high speed under any lighting conditions, with no damage to objects, no contact deformation, and easy operation.
For the first time, the R&D team added omnidirectional light and hyperboloid cameras to the scanner during the process of innovation and development. The omnidirectional light can be used to create a 360-degree laser beam. The hyperboloid camera can capture all the images of the laser belt. This is of great significance with traditional scanners relying on specific light.
Use a wider range
Three-dimensional panoramic scanner is mainly used in three-dimensional data acquisition of object contours, three-dimensional arts and crafts precision inspection of engraving processing, abrasive manufacturing design error detection, metal workpiece crack detection and other fields.
In addition, the 3D panoramic real-time scanner can also measure the distance between the scanner and the measured object, and can be used for depth measurement; it can replace the laser radar, navigate the robot and avoid obstacles; it can scan physical goods and generate point clouds. Perform point cloud registration and upload the registered model to the shopping network.
