AkzoNobel will remotely control chlor-alkali devices

AkzoNobel has said that the company plans to operate a small chlor-alkali production facility in Europe via remote control.

Wood has agreed to build this chlor-alkali production plant, Uhdenora, Milan, Italy will provide electrolytic cell technology. AkzoNobel said that remote control of chlor-alkali devices will greatly reduce the risks associated with transportation and contribute to environmental protection.

Ellen Holmen, business manager of AkzoNobel's company responsible for remote control of chlor-alkali equipment, said that the new central control room can control up to five remote-controlled chlor-alkali units. At present, its specific site has not yet been determined, but it is certain that it will be located in Germany, the Netherlands or Switzerland where AkzoNobel owns a large chlor-alkali plant.
