China's urgent need to use standardization to promote the development of petroleum petrochemical equipment manufacturing industry

"China is entering the international standardization of petroleum equipment manufacturing." Not long ago, a foreign expert said at the first international seminar on the standardization of petroleum and petrochemical equipment held in China. His point of view aroused resonance in the venue, because this sentence just summed up the state of the work of China's oil equipment standards.

At present, China's petroleum and petrochemical equipment industry is relatively complete, and its specifications and varieties can basically meet the needs. PetroChina's equipment and equipment manufacturing enterprises already have strong capabilities. Some companies have even reached the international top level, especially in the world of drilling and production equipment. A place, but in the international standards community, China still has its own voice. At the level of industry standards, China is still at an exploratory stage. The research and development of major equipment still remains at the stage of imitating cats and tigers, lacking secondary development capabilities, and having independent knowledge. There are fewer products for property rights.

In recent years, with the emphasis and support of the country and industry, under the urgent requirements of development, China's petroleum and petrochemical equipment standardization agencies have done a lot of work. First, a relatively complete mechanism for innovation management, revision, etc. has been formed; second, research on equipment standards and standards systems has been strengthened; and third, international standard tracking, research, and adoption of standards have been actively pursued. Through these efforts, a relatively sound equipment standard and standard system have been formed.

As of June 2008, China had issued a total of 493 oil and gas equipment standards, basically forming a petroleum equipment standard system covering oil and gas exploration and development, oil and gas storage and transportation, and other specialized fields. Among the existing petroleum equipment standards, 179 are international and foreign advanced standards, and 36.3% of the existing standards are standard. At the same time, the focus of the adoption of the standard has shifted from the API standards of the American Petroleum Institute to the ISO standard of the International Organization for Standardization, which has a wider applicability. In the past, API standards used in China accounted for 71.5% of all adopted standards, and ISO standards only accounted for 21.2%. In recent years, China's petroleum equipment manufacturing industry has stepped up efforts to adopt ISO standards. There are 45 ISO international standards planned for use in 2008.

Although China is already the country with the largest number of oil equipment manufacturers, more than 700 Chinese companies have obtained API certification. However, from a global perspective, China is not currently a manufacturing power and can only be considered a manufacturing power. Some experts pointed out that as an important petroleum and petrochemical equipment manufacturing country, China should participate in the formulation of international standards as soon as possible, and it should occupy an important seat in the global standard family. In the understanding of "standards", it is said that there is a "rules of the game" approved by many parties. It is important to understand the rules and act according to the rules, but it is more important that "who will formulate the rules."

Entering a new period of development, "standards" have constituted the basic elements of the competitiveness of enterprises and countries. Industry standards and national standards represent the level of technological and economic development of an industry and a country. The standard battle has become one of the highest forms of competition among nations. Therefore, in today's world, whoever has mastered the right to speak and speak, one has mastered the initiative of technology and market to some extent. Therefore, China should actively participate in the formulation of international standards.

The standard is called technical system, it is the concentration of advanced technology and technology system, represents the core competitiveness of a company, but also gives this enterprise the right to speak. With regard to the right to speak in terms of standards, in the fierce global market competition, it has been shown to be pleasing to the eye. China's equipment manufacturing industry in the past few years has profound experience in the process of marching overseas. In the past few years, China's oil equipment manufacturing enterprises have actively self-innovated and accumulated many advanced technologies in the field of equipment manufacturing such as geophysical exploration, drilling, and pipeline transportation, and some have even reached the international advanced level. How to make these standards “go out” has become an international standard and an important task in the internationalization of standards. For this kind of "going out" standard, the state and related departments should also think and prepare as early as possible, actively participate in the formulation of international standards, rather than just adopt standards, seize the opportunity to increase the market discourse power of international oil and petrochemical equipment, which is also The inevitable choice of a big manufacturing country to become a powerful country requires us to promote the internationalization of petroleum petrochemical equipment manufacturing standards with more open minds, more open minds, and more open mechanisms.

Hardfacing overlay ductwork square to rounds, as the name suggests, convert square or rectangular ductwork to round wherever such a transition is required. This may be to connect rectangular ductwork to ventilation equipment designed for a circular connection, or to change the duct shape to pass through a confined space. In confined areas such as ceiling voids (the space between the suspended and structural ceiling of a building) it's common to see ductwork runs comprised of both rectangular and round spiral duct - the main duct and branches are rectangular as the equivalent sized round duct may not fit into the ceiling void. Square to rounds provide the means to make this transition.
