Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SAIC, plans to build two new engine production plants to provide small diesel engines for SAIC-GM-Wuling mini-vans.

Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. announced that the two new plants will be built in Shanghai and SAIC-GM-Wuling Guangxi Liuzhou. The combined annual production capacity of the two factories can reach 400,000 diesel engines with displacements ranging from 0.9 to 2 liters.
Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. has already been listed. SAIC Motor owns 48% of its shares and produces diesel engines for trucks, buses and construction equipment.
SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. is a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors and Liuzhou City Government. The three parties each held 50.1:44:5.9 shares, making it the largest micro-manufacturing enterprise in China. In the first nine months of this year, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s sales increased by 12%. The total amount is 130,524 vehicles.
