The Qinghai-Tibet Power Grid interconnection project is the world's highest elevation, the largest alpine region, the longest crossing through the permafrost region, the most difficult construction of transmission and transformation projects along the average 4650 meters above sea level, the highest 5300 meters, 550 kilometers across the permafrost . The project tackled the key technical problems of DC external insulation and high altitude correction of the electromagnetic environment, the tower foundation construction of transmission line in permafrost regions, operational control and security and defense under the conditions of "strong direct current and weak alternating current" grid systems, and established the project of high altitude power grid project The technical system for vegetation restoration has achieved a breakthrough in the clinical treatment of altitude sickness caused by high-altitude and long-distance power transmission lines, and has resulted in zero death, zero disability and zero plague dissemination. The successful construction of the project has ended the history of isolated power grid operation in Tibet and solved the long-term power shortage problem in Tibet Power Grid. The key technologies and applications of lightning protection in power grids were completed. The system completed the key technical research on four aspects of lightning flash monitoring, lightning discharge mechanism, overhead line differential protection and lightning fault monitoring, and innovated to form a set of theoretical models, monitoring systems, protective devices and standards One of the lightning protection system of power grid technology to enhance the overall level of lightning protection, the overall technical level of the international leader. The past three years, the company lightning transmission system failure rate dropped 50%, guiding the disposal of more than 6800 lightning strikes, power grid lightning protection effect is significant. The results are still in the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail, Beijing, Tianjin and other urban rail transit traction system to promote the application, lightning failure rate reduced by 70%, significant economic and social benefits.
