Siemens wins orders for two semi-submersible drilling rigs

On March 15, Siemens announced that it has received orders for power systems for two "Category-D" semi-submersible drilling rigs under construction in Daewoo, Korea. The shipowner is Norway's Songa Offshore, each costing $570 million. The platform can operate in water depths of 100-500 meters with a maximum drilling depth of 8,500 meters.

Load Sensing Proportional Valves

A proportioning valve is a valve that relies on the statics to supply a reduced pressure to an output line.

A simple example is where spring load applies a reducing force so that the output pressure is reduced. Proportioning valves are frequently used in cars to reduce the brake fluid pressure to the rear brakes.
