FAW Hongqi will use dual clutch technology


The BorgWarner Combined Drive System (BWUTS) is a joint venture between BorgWarner and 12 leading Chinese automakers in Dalian, China, of which BorgWarner holds a majority stake; Become China FAW (FAW) supplier to provide DualTronic control module and clutch module with integrated torsional vibration damper for its new seven-speed wet dual clutch transmission (DCT). The DCT is expected to be used in FAW's flagship Hongqi luxury sedan and debuted at the end of 2013. This will be the first rear-drive dual-clutch transmission (DCT) in China. Two other plans are under development, mainly for production in 2014 and 2015. After all three transmission plans have been fully launched, total annual sales are expected to exceed 500,000 units. BorgWarner's DualTronic Clutch and Control Module features improved electromagnets and new friction materials with the latest clutch assembly designs designed to provide better fuel economy and torque than previous wet and dry clutch systems transfer.



China’s demand for domestically-manufactured automatic transmissions is increasing.
